The softball team (5-1) defeated Wells College 9-1, followed by a big victory over Grace College, 11-2, on Tuesday afternoon. This was the third day the Vikings competed in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Aimee Lefebvre (Waterford Halfmoon/Waterford) led the Vikings going 2-3 from the plate, recording her first collegiate homerun with a two-run shot. Cherish Kilventon (Cohoes/Cohoes) picked up her second win of the season allowing only one earned run on just four hits.
In the second game against Grace, Natalie Triano (Colonie/Albany) went 2-2 at the plate with a homerun and two RBIs. Molly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) and Lori Pelersi (Bethlehem/Albany) each had two singles and one RBI apiece. A two-run double from Meghan Matan (Shaker/Latham) broke the game open in the fourth inning. Kate Cahrenger (Waterford Halfmoon/Waterford) allowed only one earned run improving her record to 3-0 on the season. The team played great defense and helped Cahrenger get out of trouble several times throughout the game.
The Vikings will end its spring trip today with games against Potomac State and Wells College at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
